The POS that is the Forester is on its last legs so a new POS dog bus needs to be found.
Criteria for new dog bus is
1) Must be low at the back. My lab has arthritis so struggles to get into stuff that is high.
2) Must be decent off road (AWD). Suitable for shooting and taking the spaniel into trials.
3) Cheap as f

4) Heated seats are a must.
5) Drives OK on the road and doesn't get beaten from the lights by glaciers.
6) Interior must be able withstand abuse from a bored spaniel.
had a look at Honda CRV type thing but not sure if this fits in with number 1. I could of course just get another forester but where is the fun in that. Outback and legacy are options as well I guess.

Legacy Outback. The 2.5 and 3.0 versions are reasonably swift, they're capable off road as long as you realise they don't have the ground clearance of a proper 4x4. The boot lip isn't too high, but i'd maybe be thinking about getting a step or a ramp to help the dog jump in.
Edit: i've no idea about heated seats in these. Possibly available on the leather clad versions. My parents had one many years ago on a 'Y' plate, but the cloth seats weren't heated.
