Which £4.5k 5 door car to do 15k yearly?

I have £4.5k to spend on a reliable comfortable 5 door car. I will be doing 15k business miles yearly travelling to sites so it needs to be equally good on the dual carriageways and around town. Ideally I'd like to have it for at least 5 years, any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you

Hatchback or estate?

VW Golf 1.9TDI, around 05/06 plate for £4k. My mum has a 55 plate on 200,000 miles now and does 30k per year, still going strong with no major issues.

Diesel Mondeo. A friend of mine reluctantly bought an estate for just this sort of thing and he's come to quite like it.

Small hatchback would be preferable, husband has a 59 mondeo and I don't like driving it but perhaps I should try again

Mondeo 2.2 TDCi is smart but also Vectra 1.9tdi 150, Signum 3.0ctdi, or for comfy I'd say Saab 9-5 or 9-3 150 TID

Classless, good mpg, parts are easy to source, theyre cheap to run and smallish.

What more do you need?!
