Found a nick in my tyre. How bad is it?

So I found small nick in the sidewall of my driver side front tyre today. The tyres are only 4 months old, so I looks like they got caught on a curb or something, not really sure.

Doesn't look too bad. I've repaired worse with some super glue.

I expect I'll get shot down for saying that, but a little cosmetic damage is nothing to get overly excited about.

Looks ok, but why risk it? It's the only thing in contact with the road.

I've replaced similarly damaged tyres before

It's really damn frustrating, especially if they're so new.

If there is no tyre cord or ply exposed it's fine, as suggested above , bit of superglue or similar to stick it back.

BTW, like the way the 'nick' just appeared, looks like you've been 'kerb crawling'.....

You choice. My worry is the family of 4 coming the other way if it lets go. Get a new tyre, keep the damaged one as an emergency spare.

Totally OTT and designed to scare the OP into submission.

No chord exposed and it's holding air, so what exactly is going to make it let go in a straight line and send it aiming towards the MPV coming the other way?

And from the maintenance schedule I've seen of your average zafira-a-like, that'll be running bald tyres, dodgy brakes and a whole list of advisories from the last MOT, but because it's got a higher number on the plate than the neighbours car then the monthly payments are far not important than essential safety maintenance.

So OP, as he says, your choice.

There is nothing wrong with this tyre. This would pass a mot, no problem.

I see tyres a lot worse than that when I'm MOTing, one guy even wanted me to drive his car to the tyre place to get two tyres far worse than that changed.

OP, I wouldn't glue that - nor would I replace the tyre.

• If you glue it then the MOT tester can see the tyre has been damaged but can't tell how bad the damage was.
• I would just trim off the flap with a sharp knife.
• Your rim damage is just a quick touch up with some silver paint from Halfords.

Judging by the plaster I'd advise OP to keep away from anything sharp
