Petrol has all gone! What car do you buy?

Just for fun.... Picture the scene.... Fossil fuels have gone, a rapid rollout programme of alternative fuels for the past 5 years has seen the world continue relatively unscathed - in a bid for rapid deployment an 'everyman' electric car has been produced for everyone. So until manufacturers catch up, we all have one design, hum drum motorcar.

Petrol/diesel cars sell for peanuts as now useless.

The game; you've still got room on the drive/garage for one car that you'd like to keep for art/nostalgia.

As they are all worthless, you can pretty much pick any. What do you buy?

My top 3:

Ferrari F355. One of the greatest designs, albeit a little dated now.



Aston V8 Vantage. Probably the nicest looking car ever built.




Porsche 911 (any, but 997 for me - I'm biased). Not the prettiest of cars, but an icon in the history of motoring.

Being an engineering sort I'd just remove the engine and gearbox from my Mustang, make that into the art (maybe a coffee table) and stick the biggest electric motor and best batteries/fuel cell I could afford into the Mustang.

Agreed. Buy the lovely car for little to no money, remove useless bits to make into lovely arty bits, put best propulsion system available into lovely car while doing a build thread on the now renamed "ElectricHeads" forum.

Sticking to the original question though: Singer 911 I think.

Something interestingly shaped that I can make a garden feature out of it. I'll have a 1955 Mercedes 300SL please.

Or alternatively... something light enough that electrifying it is feasible? I'll have a Lotus Elise and have my very own home-made Tesla, please.

Actually, sod it: it's so beautiful that I'd do my damndest to keep the Gullwing mobile in the most sympathetic way I could. Electricity for the 300SL please.
