ZF Auto gearbox specialist a close as to Manchester Airport

Just bought a Jag S-type and want to get gearbox oil/filter change. Has anyone got any recommendations?

I seem to recall hearing of one in Denton, but I am not sure of the name. I am sure google could help though. I have used Geartorque in Westhoughton Bolton if you don't find anything closer.

I know Denton.. Unfortunately. I cant find anything on google though. The place in bolton came up in my search, what work have they done for you? As you can imagine i want to do my research before letting someone poke around the innards of that expensive box!

I recently had our X3 3.0d 'box oil changed and software reset - like a different car.

It was done at my BMW specialist

Its a 6spd ZF box. Some have metal sump and changeable filter and some have plastic sump with combined filter that is changed as one unit.

I looked at geartorque and called them and they seems pretty bang on. Only went to BMW place as I wanted some other stuff seeing to

It's an easy job and doesn't really need a specialist.

Ive read that with the ZF boxes its a little more complicated?

I only had them check the level, but as mentioned they were spot on with the proper checking procedure. A spotless workshop and a few ZF equipped cars being worked also inspired confidence. There are no waiting facilities though so you may want to bear that in mind.

Changing the fluid is easy...if you have the means to raise the car level and monitor transmission fluid temp while refilling. The engine has to be running and the trans temp has to be within a certain range to achieve the correct level. The sealing sleeve for the wiring loom should also be changed (common leak point) and from what I gather, that can be tricky if you don't have the right sized hands.

Also i have read it's paramount to have correct zf lifeguard fluid used

There is a jaguar specialist on Stockport road. Opposite the mcvities factory. Used them a few times for different cars, always full of jags so guessing there good at what they know!

Not really, drain sump and torque converter, remove sump/filter, replace filter/sump and fill with correct oil.
