Kia owners not welcome??

Afternoon all,
I have been on pistonheads for a while and have always been a fan, recently I have had to tighten up on cash and needed a new car, so I bought a surprisingly good kia rio 2014 plate. (Awaits many jokes and suggested alternative cars) the reason I bought the kia was due to the fact I intend to have this car for me and as of a year or so time my missus will have it and the 7 year warranty was perfect for her in the long run.
Anyway I digress, a fellow piston header thinks this is hilarious to the point of giggling uncontrollably for a short while to the degree I thought he may wet himself, all because I have proudly adorned a pistonheads sticker on my new car.
Is it me or isn't the pistonheads all About being a motoring fan, regardless of make or model, I personally see some cars and think what's the point, but that doesn't change the fact that it's their car and they may have their own reasons for wanting or having this.
Having said all the above, I would rather have a kia than a French or Italian car =p just kidding

Last time I checked an 2001 skoda fabia 1.4 8v , admittedly it's his first car.My first car was a 1997 VW polo 1.4CL 8v and it was a great little car, cheap, reasonably fast for a first car and reliable, shame the rear sills and wheel arch were prone to rust.
I agree with your friend a little bit. Yes we can all be into cars but you make your choices in life be it to have a family, go on a family holiday, buy new for reliability, buy watches, expensive cloths or fancy phones. To me someone who is really into cars and hasnt alot of disposable income makes that decesion to sacrifice something else in order to run their car. Or someone into watches goes without holidays to have a nice interesting watch and be in the watch "scene" going to meets or whatever watchheads do.
There are people out there with ferrari's lambo's etc that really are not into cars they are bought for the effect. eg(footballers) I have a friend that has 2 very reasonable priced very sporty cars s2000 and integra type R who claims to be into cars but never even drives in vtec or comes on runs. He has the cars to be a "pistonheader" but makes no effort.
I have also been on runs with someone who came along in his kia cee'd and when i looked at his front tyres he had goodyear eagle f1s.
In summery an armchair poster who has or hasn't the cars but is a keyboard warrior on here isn't really into cars that much imo.
Somone who makes the effort to get along and meet some people, go to runs, events, track days is always welcome regardless of having a standout car or something mundane.
There are too many posts on here about "my new diesel eurobox" frankly i dont care, however if you have it because you have a wee mx5 tucked up in the garage a classic, or hot hatch and make the effort im more likely to want to talk to you.

Kias have come on leaps and bounds in the last 5 years or so - before the Ceed they were a bit budget and in truth a bit s
t, but having driven a Ceed and the Hyundai i30, I would certainly buy one over a focus or astra - Even if they didn't have the very useful 7 year warranty they still make good sense as a private purchase - Not sure why anyone would favor a Hyundai over a Kia though as I think i'm right in saying that they are more expensive to comparable kia model?

I also find that the most prolific posters are also the most prolific posers.
For me it's all about finding a car that does more than it should, and driving it well, and I could do that in a Rio if I wanted to (but I would buy a 5 year old one probably).
How you drive is much more important than what you drive. Nothing wrong with your choice DSS, if it was your choice.
