Parking ticket
Discussion
Parked up in the first space near the end of a side road. Got out, looked at the sign and at the bottom it was pointing back towards the main road for the ticket machine.
Looked up and down the road, no sign of a machine that I could see. Weird :/ walked out onto the main road to investigate, couldn't see anything there. Walked back round the corner to my car and the ticket was being printed by a guy on a moped.
Turns out the machine was further down the road, but at the time I looked it was obscured by bus drivers waiting outside the garage on the other side of the road.
Worth claiming against this? I have pictures of my car with the sign pointing in the wrong direction, and people standing near the machine (by the time I took them they'd moved out of the way).

The sign has clearly been turned around. The legend on parking signs always faces the road. Sorry, but that was the first thing I noticed as soon as I saw the photo.
Definitely contest it though. The dude on the moped writing the ticket should have firstly seen the plate was twisted, and secondly should have taken a photo of your car, sans ticket, in front of the "ignored" sign plate - this would add weight to your case, IMO, that you took reasonable responsibility to find the machine.
(I'm no copper but I do work for the highways, I'd take an educated guess that you'd be successful)

Wouldn't that sign normally be facing the road, which means the ticket machine would be in the other direction?? Appeal it and see what happens.
A good point. If there are no machines in the direction the arrow pointed, I think they would have no choice but to grant your appeal if you cite inadequate signage.
Simply state you went looking for the machine in the direction indicated, couldn't find one, and by the time you were back at the car, a ticket had been issued.
