Silverstone Auctions Salon Prive sale

Don't head to Pebble Beach for a classic auction, there's a fairly special one happening here!

Given the kind of cars that auction houses like RM and Gooding are selling at the Pebble Beach auto week it's not surprising they are the focus of everyone's attention at the moment. But very soon after is Silverstone Auctions sale at Salon Prive and it too has a fair selection of magnificent lots.

Got a spare couple of million?

The lead pic is of the 'Stradale' collection, a consignment of cars overseen by Eagle CEO Henry Pearman. The Ferrari 365 GTS/4 Spyder is one of just 122 ever made, has covered only 4,000 miles and is a certified Ferrari Classiche car. It's also drop dead bloody gorgeous. The estimate is £1.75-£2.25m.

Need to add an F40 or F50 to your collection? Of course you do. With identical estimates of £600-£750,000, both Ferrari hypercars have very low miles (the F40 10,000 and the F50 just 6,000) and appear immaculate.

But there are one or two surprises in the Stradale collection and the rest of the auction too. The 1931 Bentley Blower is #25 produced and is expected to make over £2m. There's Range Rover chassis #001, a Miura P400, a Fiat Dino Spider... The list goes on. Should be a cracking auction!

I have a large format Ferrari book with a yellow 365 Spyder featured, just sooo beautiful!

I can remember seeing one for sale in Egham in 1974. I can't remember the price but it wasn't so outrageous then, but still way out of the budget of a trainee programmer.

So when a man who has probably made as much money out of classic cars as a business in the UK sells his collection what does that tell you ?!?!

That said the Daytona Spider is just incredible....is there a better colour combo than black with a red interior for that car?

Given the current state of the market I think there are a few underestimates there. I would be surprised if the F40, F50 and Daytona Spyder go for less than million. Plus Aston Martin prices seem to be rising very promptly too.

However some of the stuff that will be going through Pebble Beach next week...

takes ages to load but worth it. Normally I'd say the star would be the McLaren F1 (estimate $14 million) but in this case, I'll make a exception...

I've interested in cars for.. well forever and I have never even heard of this Ferrari. Its estimate is $20million and I would say that is very, very conservative.

There are only 3 M20s in the world and that is chassis number 1.

In a way, I'm quite glad I never won the Euromillions 120 million jackpot because if I had and I jumped on a plane over there I think my head explode with pleasure. Actually, what am I saying, Why can't I win Euromillions??

One note of caution. All these amazing cars been put up for auction in one week, start of the crash?

Yes but the bodywork on the rolls royce is both unusual AND unique!!
