How much are scrap cars going for?

I know it's a very vague question but I've got a mistibushi pinin GDi that isn't going to run again, someone I know wants to buy it but not sure on values.

Anyone got a rough price of anything they've had recently?

I think steel prices are relatively high at the moment. I'd guess maybe £200 if the scrap yard had to pick the car up; perhaps a bit more if you could get it to them?

There are plenty of websites which will value a scrap car for you - sort of like WBAC but for scrap.

One near me (hampshire) offers £100 minimum including collection.

Scottish central belt is about £120 for fiesta/punto sized.

Contact some exporters, we sold A toyota surf that had been rolled. Absoulte pig of a machine, still got £500 and it got shipped off to africa somewhere.

They seem to want 4x4s.

We scrapped a car at work last week and only got £60 for it, scrap prices have been steadily going down in the last few months, at the begining of the year that £60 would have been £100.

I got £40 for a Land Rover Discovery carcass this week, but bear in mind that's for them to come and collect it, and it was stripped, just a chassis and most of the body left.

Would have got about £100 per ton if I'd taken it to them.

I was going to chop it and separate the aluminium and steel myself for maximum benefit, but I didn't have time for the hassle, and the DVLA's change that you can't self-declare scrapping is bloody annoying. Must go to someone who can sort you a certificate of destruction.

Yea some people really are living in the past, scrapped a mx5 shell the other week £35 quid hardly worth the effort of taking it down, if I hadn't had a few batteries, cats, scrap alloys I would just give it to a local scrap man.

Scrap was £90 p/ton a few months ago when I last weighed anything in.

In my experience, scrap cars are worth

A) £100000 a ton when you want to buy a knacker from someone
B) £1 a ton when you want to sell a knacker to a scrap dealer - in fact they're doing you a massive favour by even remotely considering giving you some money for it!

Absolutely hate having to deal with scrap, never seem to get a clear or consistent rate out of anyone.
