If you were to get a Jap turbo
Discussion
Keep it in the family, the Z32 300ZX TT is a wonderful GT.
Is this an actual what car thread or a hypothetical imaginary thread?
Or if you want practicality and think you can pull off a wagon, Legacy or Stagea, former obv. only in AWD later can be RWD or AWD.
Or one of those AWD GTOs? (Another nice GT coupe)
By "more refined" do you mean with more progressive torque delivery?
(I realise this isn't what you mean
)

Bit of a ask what other people like, little bit hypothetical imaginary thread/what car thread combined. Is this an actual what car thread or a hypothetical imaginary thread?

)More refined as in my doors dont wobble and shake at 75 mph, maybe some power steering, central locking and elec windows etc.
I've got a TT 300zx and a tuned S15 Silvia. Both have similar power delivery tbh, I guess the turbo is a bit less subtle in the Silvia. Never had a problem managing it though.
The 300 is a big, heavy, comfortable cruiser with not too much sporting ambition. The Silvia is way lighter, way shorter geared, way stiffer, so yeah it's more fun but comfort and refinement much worse.

Talking pure thrills of the nothing then booooost. Launching you sideways into a ditch.
Hehe. Love it. If you can find one, Nissan GTI-R? Unfortunately, no good for sideways action.Got to be honest, not driven either car you mention. However, My impreza does a good job of this
(Classic shape with PPP) I found the evos have too linear a power delivery. I hear the 200sx type cars are also fairly linear, but that's hearsay, not actual experience. Perhaps though you need rear wheel drive for that truly terrifying experience
Curve ball, and very much not a jap car - Nice Renault 5 turbo? a few hundred bhp should see you in a ditch pretty soon. Failing that, any modified old saab. Just be sure to have the boost come in mid corner.

Things I would classify as "unusual" jap turbo:
Mitsuibishi 3000GT
Mitsubishi Evo Estate (not sure the exact model designation, but I know they did one)
Toyota Celica GT-FOUR (Or for Uber-rarity, a Caldina)
Toyota Soarer
Toyota Chaser
Subaru Forester XT or STI
Nissan Stagea (The estate version of the Skyline)
Nissan Pulsar GTIR
Appreciate that most of those are 4wd though so perhaps not what you're after. Of that lot, the Soarer or Chaser would probably be my pick.

There is a way of getting round the lag. Just takes a bit of practice at working out when the boost is coming on and making sure you stay around that rev range. Managed it on a stupidly-tuned single turbo Skyline. Of course, the first time I tried to get away from the lights quickly a couple of days after picking the car up, an old granny in a Nissan Micra sauntered past me.
