1st night of euro tour?

Hi, im leaving the UK to tour parts of Europe in a few weeks, and I land in france on a Saturday, im going to go the the ring on the sunday, and I would like some points of interest to visit/stay on my first night.

in mind, I have stay in Luxembourg. visit the reims pit lanes. but that's pretty much it, im hoping someone can provide some POI to visit, or maybe somewhere else to stay?

Do you have any ideas of destination,europe is a big place. How many of you in your car? how many miles do you mind doing per day? whats your budget?

Reims is lovely but the pit lane will take up very little time. It's a nice place to stop but it's not a days worth, visit the Pomery champagne house and have a look around there while you're near by. Very interesting and a glass of the good stuff at the end. It ends expensively.

i'll stop lurking, I promise!

I have a general route from the 'ring onwards, im going to head down through Germany, to Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Monaco, and then back up through france.

im just trying to decide on where to spend the first day/night, and is Luxembourg a good place to end up at for the first night, or should I be looking at somewhere in france/Belgium?

anyone got any input? im open to suggestions. ideally, wherever I stay, I'd like a shortish (no more then 2 hours) trip to the 'ring on sunday.

Just drive to the 'ring on the Saturday, soak up the atmosphere and explore Saturday evening, have steak on a stone at the Italian restaurant in Barweiler (better than Pistenklause IMO), then you're right there for Sunday morning.
