Just asked for a favour from tyre fitter and got told.......

A relatively well known tyre company who have a land of tyres are local to me. After a refurbishment I wanted the old spare wheel off, and the newly refurbished wheel on there. The newly refurbished wheel has the same tyre as the other one on the same axle. I politely asked if they could swap the wheel for £5 as a favour......I'd usually do this myself, but my trolley jack has decided to fall apart and not work any more.
Due to issues which have been rectified the tread is more worn on the outer edge than in the middle. There is not a horrendous amount of wear there, the tyre has, on average, 4.5-5mm of tread and the most worn area has about 2mm (and it's only a relatively small section of less than 1 inch across).
He told me he would sell me some new tyres and would recommend it immediately because my tyre would "let go and burst" within 200 miles and he wouldn't put it on for me. Now, not my last car but the one before I had some serious uneven wear issues which actually caused the canvas to be exposed on the inner edges (WAY more worn than the current tyre on this car) and that was fine and I didn't crash, burn and die in a big ball of flames....though I did duly rectify the issue and got new tyres as they were badly worn!). But this tyre is perfectly legal with >1.6mm of tread across the whole tyre.
If he didn't want to swap a wheel over, fair enough...but why try giving me some bulls
