Anyone on the A14 today?

I don't remember seeing rain fall as hard in such a short space of time.

I think it probably should have been shut

When was that?! I came along it around 3pm yesterday, was raining but nothing like that! Anyone flood their car?

I think it was about 4 or 5 pm. It was just before the turn off to cambridge services.

No one had flooded their engine, even though the odd guy drove straight through the deep bit. Was quite fast flowing aswell.

Anyway, it made a boring journey abit more interesting.

Was driving up the A1 to York around 6pm last night - I too have never seen rain fall so fast and as heavy.
Masses of standing water, yet idiots still ploughed through at daft speeds...

Yeah, came off it onto the A428 instead and there someone had lost their car to the water.

About 4pm-ish. Worst I've driven in for quite a while!

I'd been heading up the A14 then A134 yesterday to near Swaffham to join my better half at a horse riding club camp.
Didn't see any of that rain while driving but it hit the site later that evening about 8pm. Absolutely torrential - 5 stables flooded completely, the whole site under inches of water for an hour or so. Thanks to the incredible work of the site owner digging extra drainage channels with his mini digger in rain so heavy you couldn't see more than 6ft ahead, no major damage.
Woke up this morning to bright sun, clear blue skies and not a single trace of any rain.

Came across plenty of flooding while heading cross country to avoid j30 of the m1.

Felt I had the right car with a full fat range rover although the van behind clearly felt this meant a deep floor could be crossed at high speed.

I was very conscious that I could go faster, but at the risk of drowning other cars. Therefore I did not.

That was some pretty heavy rain yesterday! Glad when I came across the floods on the 428 I was in the works sprinter rather than a car. One of the few times you need to use the super speed setting on your wipers!

Yes, it was pretty bad yesterday. We had water pouring in through the office ceiling and had to evacuate.

Here's a little dashcam footage of my escape out of Bar Hill. Not long after that the road out became too flooded, a lot of people didn't make it out of the office until nearly mid night.
