Private plate tax refund

Sorry to post this here, but as I am new on the forums I can't reply to the current thread in another part of this forum.

I have recently purchased a car and the dealer insisted on applying to transfer my private plates on my part ex onto this new car instead of applying to the DVLA for retention and then applying for the transfer.

This has been done by the DVLA - private plate relates to new car and I am awaiting all the documents to come through. I have 2 months tax left on the part ex, but can I still get a refund even though the tax disc shows the private plate on and this plate has been transferred to a new vehicle?

Once you have all the paperwork back including the new tax disks, then you can process an application at the point you trade in, assuming that is what you agreed
