Decent enough car - not the sharpest of cars nor the quickest but it's far from the worst in either respect and it's certainly very practical for a mid-sized hatchback.

For what it's worth, a set of reasonably light 17 inch wheels make a world of difference to the handling and ride. The 18s you've got (I think?) weigh a bloody tonne.

Do have a soft spot for the Octavia, was considering the estate version of the vRS before I got the current V70. Fine car and usually only derided by people who know nothing about cars and are horrified when you tell them there A3 shares most of its oily bits with a Skoda and a Seat.

Better weeded than outside my garage! I don't need a pressure washer either, my driveway's so rutted I need to get some more tarmac down... bloody Volvos (previous occupier loved his 740s).

Agree. Mine is better on its reasonably light 17" winter alloy wheels (225/45) than on its standard heavy 18" wheels (225/40).
