E-Type Lightweight onboard: Time For Tea?

Because it's not every day a new E-Type comes out, is it?

It would have been nice to feature Jaguar's promo video for the six E-Type Lightweights here. There are plenty of arty shots, the atmospheric backing music and the obligatory F-Type appearance but not a great deal of actual fast driving. Although Mike Cross at maximum attack round a test track probably wouldn't have created the right image.

So as an alternative E-Type celebration, there's this few minutes of onboard from a Jaguar Heritage Lightweight. Al Buncombe is driving again, a name you'll hopefully remember from the GT40 video of a few weeks back. There's much the same in this video that made the GT40 clip so enthralling; ballsy overtakes, deft powerslides and 100 per cent commitment.

The difference this time of course is that howling straight six replaces thundering V8 and it's Oulton Park instead Goodwood. Still a terrific video though. Here's to the last six being used similarly!

If he is so quick, why is he starting so far back on the grid? The only reason I offer is that it makes for some great overtaking video but no doubt there is a better, more rational reason.

The way he drove made it look as if all the other cars (apart from the last one he overtook) were running knackered 2.4s from a clapped out MK2!

Sometimes I think that Alex deliberately qualifies poorly just so he can enjoy carving through the entire field in a lap or two

He did the same at the Blancpain Endurance series at Monza, where he overtook 18 cars in two laps..

Great bit of driving. Looks like the gear linkage was a bit sloppy tho'.
