Where single letter-4 number plates ever issued?

As title I'm wondering if numberplates were ever issued in the form of single letter followed by 4 numbers, EG: A 9999


If so, is it possible to find out when the V 1111 to V 9999 plates were issued, or if a particular plate still exists?

Yes. 'H nnnn' were especially popular. It's where they used up all the surplus letter Hs.

There are 2 particular numbers I am interested in, not just any where they are all the same.

I am just interested to find out if they were issued and, if not, can they be issued. I expect they would be out of my price range though :/

Single Vs were issued from Jan 1904 and July 1922. I assume it would be the Jan 1904 issue when the V preceded the numbers. I don't know how high they went. They were issued by Lanarkshire.

For sale at the next auction is plate SAA 444B estimated at £400. That could look quite good on a classic Saab
