Managed speed cameras to go live M25 J27 to J30

Guys, the speed cameras between J27 to J30 are to go live soon http://www.brentwoodgazette.co.uk/Variable-speed-l... As you will read in the article, no real clue as to whether they cameras will also be live re the 70mph limit. Bloody ironic really. Having endured these dam things along the Heathrow section since their inception, my observation is that 90% of the time, they are useless. And of course, despite £6bn being spent on this section of the M25 to improve congestion, as soon as it gets towards the rush hour, the traffic comes to a shuddering halt for about 10 miles either side of the Dartford crossing. And all DELIBERATELY caused by the bloody fee collection. Don't forget we were promised it would be free once paid for, which happened in 2004. But, the barriers are soon to go, and you'll have to pay £2.50 for cars then. I've no idea how exactly you'll be able to pay, apparently you must pay by midnight on the day of use. Which is going to be bloody difficult if you continue into the continent. And it's £180 if you don't pay !!

You will be able to pay in advance, or up to midnight on the day AFTER the crossing. And online, of course.

Not sure how you can pay the next day if you're in Germany, Spain, Italy and many other countries.

Does your phone not work abroad? Internet? Easy. Or be organised and do it in advance.

Not organised. Keep the mobile off as much as possible abroad, plus switch of roaming. Bloody awkward if you try to pay and find you're in a no signal area !!!

Well they've made it easy enough! If you know you're travelling that way it takes, what, two minutes to make sure it's paid before you leave?

Well they've made it easy enough! If you know you're travelling that way it takes, what, two minutes to make sure it's paid before you leave?

So that's your real issue, not that it's awkward to pay.

What will the money be used for though? Or is it just another tax collection?

Maybe they use all those coins to stop the bridge sinking into the Thames. Yeah, that makes most sense.

The money goes to the private company the gubbermint sold it to just before it was to become free as promised.

And presumably you won't bother to pay at all if you are from Germany, Spain, Italy and many other countries.

I thought it was now back in Government hands. The French 'owners' notices disappeared ages ago. Anyway, back to topic. With the managed speed thing implemented, are the scameras going to be active when it's off, and the 70mph speed limit applies. It doesn't seem to be that way elsewhere on the M25. As far as I know.
