Brisk, comfortable, reliable, petrol cars under £10k

I'm looking for a new daily driver, budget up to around £10k. I don't want a hot hatch or an M3 as it's for commuting, shopping and general driving. I'll be keeping my X-Trail in semi retirement to do the tip runs and dirty jobs, so I'd like something a bit nicer for day to day running. Must do over 30mpg, be brisk, reasonably engaging to drive and either come with a DAB radio or have the possibility to retro fit one. Under about 70000 miles preferred as it needs to give some resale value in a couple of years. Auto is fine. Current thoughts are Mk5 Golf Gti, IS250, C200. Anyone suggest other options (not keen on the BMW image).

You'd just about get an early/ high mileage Mk6 GTI DSG for that money, e.g. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2014... . Mighty talented all round car that excels in virtualy every area. I'd say that's a better buy than a Mk5 as it feels a lot newer and even with a few miles on the clock will still be worth more in a couple of years.

I would go left field. Saab 93 turbo x. Very underrated, same engine as a vectra vxr. And 4wd
