Mileage history question!

Hi, I hope somebody can help. I am listing a motorcycle on behalf of a friend but he has an issue with the mileage. He knows the odometer was changed relatively recently before he bought it but has no idea what the mileage was before and has little in the way of paperwork to help (i.e. old MOTs, etc.).

Does anybody know of a website or somewhere where you can go to find old historical mileages perhaps from old MOT's or something? The bike is over 30 years old and the odometer was changed a little before 2009 we think.

Last 4 mileages will be showing on the current MOT or you can look up the MOT history online

Anyone buying it will do so on condition.

Having the MOT mileage wouldn't hurt but in the absence of other paperwork its not going to be a deal breaker and as such I wouldn't bother going to a great deal of trouble to find it.

Under those conditions, I don't think I would be trying to represent any mileage in an advert.

Thanks all, the last MOT we have is 2009 which is post-speedo change. The MOT history on the govt website (www.gov.uk/check-mot-history-vehicle) only lists 2009 as well so unfortunately doesn't help.

@littleredrooster, its not a case of trying to represent the mileage in an advert. Its simply that I have had about 5 queries come in on the first day and all asked what the mileage is! I just want to respond with as full and and honest as answer as possible. If I could get a rough idea based on any records that are kept then I could pass that info. At the end of the day all I can pass on is the information I have, I am just trying to get more information that would be of interest to potential buyers.

But if you say to a potential buyer "It's done 24000 miles as far as I know" it could come back and bite you if it turns out that it's done 48000 miles according to dealers records or whatever. Best just to say that you genuinely don't know; treat all buyers as possible trouble-making tts until proved otherwise!

But I wouldn't say "It's done 24000 miles as far as I know". I would just list factual information, so if hypothetically the 2008 MOT said 24000 miles and the 2009 said 200 miles than that is what I would relay.
