Choose a Car for my missus

It's time for my missus to say goodbye to her 52 plate civic type-r hatchback but she is pretty picky on what she wants to replace it with but I'm not sure that car exists. This is the list of demands :
Small - similar size to her civic - needs to be hatchback
Fast - needs to be around as fast as her civic so around the 6.0sec mark and good handling - the type r is like a go-kart.
4WD - this is the tough one in combination with everything else
Around £15k and nearly new - ideally max of 3yrs old
Prefers Japanese cars
The only one that I can think of is a Subaru WRX S from about 2011 which come in around the £11-12k mark but I've heard many stories of the 2.5l engine so it may not be a goer.
What are the options ? Feel free to adjust the list of demands a bit as I reckon she will have to compromise somewhere.

what is the 4wd for? - I find a lot of people buying cars with 4x4 (bmw are doing it much more now which is great) thinking they will be good in winter but they then put 19s or 20s on with hardly any rubber and then don't understand why it still finds a ditch.
You are better sometimes worrying less about 4wd and getting a set of snow tyres if you really need them, rather than paying more for a feature you don't really need and decreasing performance and economy.
I got snow tyres for my 3 series and I regularly pass A4 Quattro's etc stuck......

Like the look of the Mitsubishi - I am guessing it is pretty rapid but doesn't it have some ridiculous service intervals like every 6mths or something?
Re the 4WD - she does find in the winter, her civic is a bit hairy and was hoping a 4WD would improve it but I agree that fitting winter tyres would help - I constantly almost pull the trigger each year on getting some for my M3 but always cope except for the worst weather.
