New car suggestion please!

Hi All,
Currently in the process of setting up on my own work-wise and going to take the plunge early October.
Thus, the company car goes back!
Current family fleet is company 2012 Passat 2.0 TDI that does 25k a year and wife's 2005 Grand Scenic 1.6 which dies just 2500 miles per yr tops. The Passat is used as much as possible and Renault only really used when Passat is at work with me or for odd occasion where 6 seats are required.
Wife has told me to buy what I want as 'we can use Renault when 5 seats are needed' but I really feel I need to replace Passat with a family car until Renault is replaced (next yr!), as Renault isn't in greatest of health!
So, criteria:
9k or so to spend (this wasn't in my plans for this year but as Delboy says, he who dares....)
Need to get 5 of us in - 3 child seats - fit in a Passat and also fit in my Dads Kia Ceed so don't need anything with a massive bench in the back
Would say diesel but I don't know how much mileage new work will bring
Possibly a 12 month 'stop gap' car. If work goes to plan may well swap for nicer/newer next year.
I struggle with a screw driver. No suggestions of a 1972 Morris or equivalent that may well appreciate in value please - car is probably going to get a lot of motorway mileage and daily commute will be a slow slog into Manchester.
Initial thoughts by me:
Chrysler Delta (it's a Lancia!) - something a but different and drop like a bomb depreciation wise in year one.
Seat Ibiza 1.6 TDI estate - had a Seat before and was a good car.
Skoda Yeti - albeit I'm struggling with that budget if wanting a diesel one
Would an 04 320d be a good but and not really one that's going to lose a lot of money?

Good call. Looked at them already a little bit.Tick a lot of my boxes plus I know a good VAG repairer if needed.
What mileage would you take a punt on? Lots of 100k+ cars on Autotrader. A chap near me ran an ex taxi Octavian to 310k! Just became uneconomical to fix after that.

Where would a safe mileage be these days though?? The Seat Ibiza that falls into my price range would get me a 30k miler for under £7500. I could get a Passat for that money but ,ought be a year or so older but on 120k.

I'd have the Octavia.
I'm not if I'm honest! Wife is telling me to buy something I want - I'm thinking Clio 197...I'd have the Octavia.
But I can't help but think if I do I'll have to fork out a new car for her a lot sooner than planned.
Delta appeals in that its 18k new but after 18 months can be picked up for 9k. 9k for a nice looking family diesel with 18 months manufacturers warranty seems good.
That Volvo idea above has thrown some new possibles into the mix including 59 plate Saab 9-3, 58 plate Hinda Accord etc.
Octavia probably has edge though and Autotrader has chucked up a couple if 06 diesels for around 4k at a skoda dealership where my mate is gen manager. Will call him later I think!
