It looks as though I am going to be in the fortunate position to buy myself a nice toy over the coming months, with a budget of up to appx £35k.
Now I will probably be taking a new job based in the South of France and as such i will use the car to commute annually back to the UK in the summer as the costs are reclaimable under my expenses. So I'd like something that can chew a few miles yet remain a true sports car through the Alps for example.
Essentially i have a number of concerns;
Will i need to re-register the car, i don't plan on staying permanently.
Tax is online so that's fine.
MOT - it will need to be back in the UK i imagine?
Insurance - How will i insure the car if it spending 90% of its time out of country.
Ref my choices if im spending a few quid i don't want something where there's going to be a new model every few years and its an obvious choice; ie 911TT or 911C4S etc etc its boring and doesn't interest me (not the performance but the car as a choice)
Of course the possible choices -
Choice's;
Lotus Evora
TVR Cerbera lack of driver aids could prove an issue if i get a tad carried away, not being a pro-driver (or close)
Noble M12-3R or M400 think they are too expensive / can't imagine them chewing the miles.
R34 GTR (being a PS generation I love these and can't see the prices going to much lower).
R35 GTR
As i mentioned I'm just concerned about the level of support i can get down there and owing to the fact in Toulouse the preferred method of parking seems to be bouncing of another car!

I'd go for a R34 personally, for much the same reasons as you have mentioned, though a R32 would be my preference. As a left field suggestion, what about a Porsche 968 clubsport, it would be a good investment and as long as there's a Porsche dealer/specialist about you'll be good for parts, etc..
Appreciate the 911T as a choice but it’s really not what I'd spend my money on, being from a poorer area its just not something I'd own!
Don't get me wrong a Lotus / TVR / Noble are brash but with a PH sort of slant, R34 is just a hero car that I'd love but recently they seem to of gone a tad 'chavvy' (those which are kitted up)- although with the USA market and demand once they hit 25 y/o I can see a tidy little jump in price which would probably cover any ownership costs.
As mentioned the network support is the only hindrance and my head is telling me to wait 3 years until i come back to the UK and get what i really want rather than be inhibited by my geo location!

I can promise you the Cerbera in particular is car that can bite if you get carried away, however it also gives lots of warning and requires fairly big cajones to get that far. Virtually nobody sets off in a Cerbera without feeling a healthy respect for it. It's unlikely you'll just bury your foot in the carpet and crash - you'll self-limit.jamieduff1981 said:

Hence my hesitation at getting one, although i totally respect what you are saying there also the other half saw me reading up about them and immediately spotted their lack of ABS / Airbags / Crash bars / TC etc etc so I think its safe to say they are off limit.With respect to a Noble, what are they like for a long distance drive in terms of noise? Comfort I'm not to bothered about as we are both 25 or younger so we should be able to cope! But hten you think 1000+ miles .... So any owners on here as i would like to know about their long distance capability.

Two key critera for me would be decent reliability and good aircon. I wouldn't want the car to need a checkover/service every time I embark on a long trip and I want the windows up and the cabin cool for the hours of motorway.
I think that unless you enjoy doing tinkering (and are good at it!) I would steer clear of a Noble or Cerbera in your circumstance. Then again, if they spend the majority of their time in a nice dry, warm climate in the south of France they might be less troublesome than in the UK?

M5 just isn't special enough,don'tget me wrong its an amazing and rare (ish) car, but i want an out and out 2 seater (or 2+2) two door coupe.
NSX, I hadn't even considered, will have a look into them, not to bothered about straight line speed, its more about handling, fun and rarity.

s.I know what you mean, it’s their jealousy and nothing more and its manifests itself in their inherent denseness in that they only have the ability to recognise a Porsche badge and can only assume they'd think a Maserati was a Rolex 'innit and the Noble a kit car.
Its a shame in this country that any success is greeted by hostility / jealousy rather than a 'well done', or of course the classic, 'yeh itz 'is dads muny innit'.
