Driving in Russia and what car.

We've all seen the mad driving in Russia on youtube mainly from dash cams. So what car would you drive in Russia? My 7yr old says a Hummer,
Also are there warehouses full of Ladas to replenish stocks as nearly every video has at least one disintegrating on impact in it. Russia looks a very dangerous place to drive/walk/be a passenger on a bus etc.

Alternatively, any decent car with a good body shell, crumple zones and bulletproof reliability.

My default answer in most similar cases is usually "Volvo 940". Cheap enough not to worry about it being written off, safe enough to survive the most vodka-addled idiot coming at you head-on. Despite the infamous Fifth Gear crash with a Modus, the missus has been in a crash with one whereby the 1999 S80 came off as the loser whilst the 940 drove away.

Russian made, so should be able to get it fixed. Used by the president and KGB, 7 seater, so plenty of space for heavies and high intimidation factor for the locals to get out of the way. 3.5 tonnes and 7.7l V8 give plenty of ramming potential for removing stubborn Ladas from your path. Made 'til 2010 so not too old either.
