Car Insurance conundrum - advice required

I have 3 cars - the insurance has 2 in my name (both 14 years NCB, no claims, no points) and 1 in the wife's (9 years NCB, a claim 2 years ago and also no points).

The wife's car is about to be sold but in its place we have a Golf R coming which is on a business lease (in my name).

Can I use her as the policy holder or will I need to change 1 of the other policies to make her the policyholder so I can take insurance on the new car?

There are two contracts you have to comply with here:

1. The lease (which will probably include an obligation to 'keep the car insured'); and
2. Your insurance policy (which will include a list of representations including whether or not you are the owner/registered keeper of the car).

If the insurance company is OK with the car being leased, and is OK that the car is leased to the policyholder's spouse, and the lease company is OK with the policy being in the spouse's name (all of which are *probably* OK) then there's no problem. But this is complex enough that you can't just assume.

I'd start by getting quotes in your wife's name (assuming she will be the main user) and take it from there.
