My 1991 classic mini will fire up when i put fuel direct into the carb via the air intake, but then just dies within a few seconds..???

Any ideas what this could be or has anyone suffered the same ??

All spark plugs are firing with a clearly visible spark..

Ignition is electronic so no points to adjust etc..

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Cheers

Is there fuel in the tank ? If so sounds like a fuel pump issue .

Hi

Cheers for quick reply..

When the fuel pipe is taken off the carb the fuel is pumping out fine..

Also just put fuel in tank tonight...

Is there fuel in the float bowl? It's possible for needle valves to get stuck if left for long periods as fuel evaporates leaving sticky residue. While you're attending to the float bowl/needle valve a good clean of everything else in there is a good plan.
