Our kids made some plasticine models which my Wife proudly put on the dashboard of her S-max while we on holiday in Switzerland. We didn't touch the car for 3 (very hot) days and on returning the models had "melted" and an oily liquid had oozed out and dripped all down the dash.
What is best to get it off?

Obviously this is ALL my fault rolleyes

The oily bit is probably petroleum jelly:

So treat it as that. Good luck.

The best way is to have a go at your wife and tell her to get on with cleaning it

Brake cleaner is excellent for this and I've yet to find a surface it damages. Also good for getting chewing gum out of carpets....

Brake cleaner!!
I'd be testing that on an inconspicuous part of the dash first to see if it melted it or removed any painted plastics before hand.

I have used pipe freezer spray on chewing gum, it goes hard and brittle and just breaks up, may be an option ? but be careful !

This would probably end up with the dash having a brillo pad finish.....

Quick update:
Googled "how to remove Petroleum jelly" and tried the suggestion of rubbing corn flour into it and it's worked!!
