Hi all,

I am the Operations Manager for a Driver Training / Experience Company and we are based at Bovingdon Airfield in Hertfordshire. Our venue is under threat due to a handful of complaints from local residents and we are doing everything we can to continue to run.

If any of you could take the time (30 seconds really) to sign the petition linked below, that would be magic.

If you have some time on your hands and feel like writing an e-mail of support for us, perhaps you have done one of our experiences then please e-mail this to info@driftlimits.co.uk

I am sorry to come on here and post like this, I hope it is okay with admin, apologies if not. We just want to save this great venue we have.

Thanks

Ollie

It looks like it's the drifting, screeching and burning rubber smell that's brought it to a head

I appreciate drifting isn't the most popular 'motorsport' for the pistonheads community but to make one thing clear, the drifting is done is our cars, not the public turning up in their own vehicles. All but one of our fleet of drift school cars run standard engines and exhausts. They are quiet. The tyre screech is an issue but we have installed a water sprinkler system which eliminates the screeching noise. We are doing everything we can to save this venue and appreciate any support anyone reading this is able to give us. Drifting is a small part of our business and a even smaller part of the activities which take place at Bovingdon airfield. As another example, Club Triumph do an auto-solo every year and have done for many years, they will also be stopped from coming back if the decision does not go in our favour. Many forms of essential driver training will be stopped and many local people will lose their jobs.

Here's hoping that a community of petrolheads or even a small number of you will take a moment out of your day to sign the petition or write a letter/e-mail of support.

Thanks again.

Your booking will not be compromised Scott... if the worst case scenario happens anticipate a few months of winding down at the venue

I live in Hemel. Sorry to hear of your problems. I am surprised... other than the inmates, who is there to complain!?

I'd hope it would be effected (i.e., it will be caused to take place) but not be affected (influenced).

A handful of local residents who live within a mile or so of the airfield..

I believe it is a noise you have to be tuned in to hear and for it to annoy you. We've had local residents joining us for driver training who didn't even know that we operated from the track, one who even lived in the possibly closest house to the track perimeter..

Signed.

Fed up with people thinking that the world owe them a living, It's a little tyre noise, not f22 Raptors flying 100ft above them and it's hardly like it's done in unsociable hours is it.

Signed!

Laughing at the "it ruins me playing golf" comment. How about we all complain that the local golf club is a magnet for terrible German cars and people in silly jumpers? Not to mention the constant cry of "four!"...

ps. I'm not a golfer so if it's not "four" I don't care smile

Was there a couple of weeks ago for a Ferrari experience and was really impressed with the event and all the enthusiastic staff there. Keen on going back for a drift session so I've signed the petition!

As an ex-Greenkeeper who came to loathe and detest the very existence of Golf and the self-important twits that play it this made me laugh.

Billy Connolly was right about Golf...

I believe, for decades.

Motorsport since the 70's.

There is an defunct stock car track on the airfield which was very popular in the 80's and 90's.

Done. Not heard of it before. Does it get used for advances driving courses? Or lessons of that nature? I havent read much/anything about it, but my Dad took me to a place like that in Newark area to teach me basics of car control and it really helped me when I had my actual lessons with an instructor.
