Brief background-my best mate is a real petrol head but has recently lost his license due to a medical condition, hopefully for only 6 months but may turn out to be longer.

We've always done some great stuff together, proper euro hoons, track days etc enjoying some really fantastic high powered cars.

So with all that in mind, I thought maybe we could do something of a road trip or likewise where it's as much fun for the passenger as the driver? Something that he would enjoy without feeling too much that he was missing out by not driving.

The only thing I can think of is the bourgalais run but he's already done that. Any ideas?

What about looking at other things that do not involve cars, regardless of him being a petrolhead?

Rallies?

Scatter rally, 12 car rally, stage rally, navigation rallies, regularity rallies...... ect. All at club level.

These are just as involving for the co-driver as it is for the main driver - navigation being the obvious main one.
Just something that came to mind.

With a location of Carlisle, you must have some cracking roads nearby.

Possibly a low adrenaline for you, but why not create some routes of your own and then convert them into "tulip" road notes for your mate to navigate you from? If your mate has a medical condition that is debilitating you could start the runs off short and close to home, then build 'em up if he gets in to it.

Only thing with a rally is we don't have a rally car! Nor the spare time to start a campaign of rallies to be honest but an easy turn up and drive thing might be fun.

Anything not car related is welcomed as well btw

Are there any of the 2-seater or 3-seater F1 cars still running?

Or, a Targa Rally with him as navigator? I don't think the navigator needs to have a driving licence.

It's not really my thing, but maybe a Production Car Trial? He might even be able to drive...

We do smile but my mate lives down south so when we do meet up it's more for special occasions etc. medical condition not debilitating, just he had a (hopefully one off) episode that means the doctors/dvla want to make sure it won't happen again before letting him loose
