I really want to buy this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181399445922?_trksid=p20...

A 1987 Ford MK2 Fiesta Popular Plus with only 36000 miles.

I have almost clicked 'Buy' twice now - A Fiesta was my first car, and I always seen the Popular Plus as a step up from the poverty spec Popular 1 litre model I had, and loved - this one has head rests, a passenger wing mirror, rear wiper and a whopping 1.1 litre engine!

Why, out of all the cars I have owned, do I lust after this one!

Let us know how it drives when you pick it up biggrin

ETA: I really want an XJ L, despite living on my own and with a drive that won't fit one.

I think you should buy it - for old times sake:

Remember the choke? It used to light up a yellow/orange colour when pulled.
Remember the distinctive exhaust note of the crappy 1.1 ohv engine? (horrible)
Remember the cheap grey plastics on the dash?
Remember the wind up windows?
And rust, remember the rust!

On second thoughts don't buy it!

That seems like a crazy price for a Pop. Still, there are obviously buyers smile

My mum had a blue one of these, an F reg I think. I used to thrash the rods off it when I was a lad, and got in trouble when my dad found a pair of girls undies in the glove box after I'd borrowed it, ahh happy days!

Buy it.

It's already dropped from £2500 to £2000. I reckon you might get it for £1750. Get it bought, clean it up. Use it a bit then sell it.

I keep on eyeing up a '74 Jag XJC that's for sale on car and classics.

An E-reg fiesta, by comparison, is sensible.

Buy it already!

hehe

Trouble is, my wife wants an original Mini to tart up (or a 1980's 911!), and have told her we haven't the space - if I buy this, I may be in a bit of trouble...

ETA - I don't mind the price so much, have spent more just on the odd couple of bits for my Tamora....
