Would car Air Conditioning perform better if the cold pipes were lagged with some kind of pipe insulation?

The thinking being that the cold pipes (which are bare metal in many cars) must absorb heat from the hot engine bay and also condense humidity onto them, therefore warming up the cold pipes and reducing AC performance.

Any thoughts?

You need a better compressor.

The air con in my Jag is colder than a motherfker but in LAdy Ace's VW sharan it's ste.

The Jag has a system that's appropriate, the VW doesn't.

Yep, the aircon in my VW caddy is a fking embarrassment.

When its +25 outside it can be thirty minutes before its at a comfortable level inside.

Actually my AC works quite well, and has recently been repaired.

I was just wondering if it could potentially work even better on very hot days, if the cold pipes were thermally insulated.
