Which car gives Max HP and MPG low tax (not hybrid)

Hi

Just ordered a new Volvo V40 2.0 D4 190HP R Design - 99 g/km (£0 tax), 74mpg. I just was amazed at the figures. Just wondered is there anything else out there that can beat these numbers?

It is unlikely to give that economy in real world driving, nor that lower emissions

BMW 435d - 313bhp and 52 mpg - more than 50% increase in power and drops only a 1/3 in fuel. . Co2 and fuel economy are roughly linked so it depends on what formulae you want to use.

In fairness they aren't "claimed" they're what the car achieves in the standard EU testing for efficiency etc. However they are nothing like what the car gives in real world driving.

The previous Chevrolet Corvette Z06 with the 505hp 7.0L V8 could get 30 US mpg on a motorway run which equates to about 36 UK mpg. The new Z51 vette with the 8 Speed auto has been said to achieve up to 32 US mpg on a motorway run and it comes with ~460hp.
