Gerrr. Some little s
ts just threw something off a bridge into the screen of the car. Must have been 15 - 20 of them, and they "moved lanes" to get me the little buggers.
Not the biggest damage fortunately so not the end of the world. Fingers crossed it'll mean a new screen as a large amount of the heated elements have stopped working so might kill 2 birds with 1 stone...

(And I reported it on the next emergency phone so they could send Mr Plod up to take a look if they fancy it. But I suspect even if a Plod is available to look the kids will deny deny deny. Oh hum.)

I remember about 20 years ago some kids chucked an open can of paint off the bridge over the A1 near to where I live. Driver and car both died.
More recently it was half a construction block and a lorry driver. Now clearly nothing so big was used on me. So I'm more irritated than dead. Just hope they don't throw something bigger after their success....hence stopping to use the phone. The police do take it very seriously because people have been killed on a number of occasions. They will go and investigate and if the kids are still there they will get anything from a polite talking too to a good b
king and taking home depending on how guilty the kids look (assuming it is not a bridge with CCTV). Without evidence there is not much more they can do, but they do take it seriously. I used to live by a bridge over the A1 and the police would often come out for them.
You did the right thing. Many people would drive on. The police will now know there are some kids in the area doing that at least.

Now all the pedestrian footbridges are 'caged in', at great expense to the tax paying public.
Craig Harman, the scummy Chavvy
who killed Michael Little, was jailed for ONLY SIX YEARS
That was back in 2004 too, so the s
thead will be free now. He should have been dissolved in acid, and his family left wondering happened to him.in late 80's I was coming back on A303 from Cornwall, car coming towards me flashing so I showed thinking police, got to a bridge and all manner of crap came crashing down on top of the car
I was dark so could not see anyone on the bridge, I stopped and got out the car to be met with a group of teen agers all shouting and throwing things in my direction, I was on my own with a screaming GF at the time so got in the car and left wishing I had a Uzi
when I saw the car in the morning the roof was scratched and had lots of small dents
god only knows what the bombed me with

My Dad was driving a customer Lotus Elan on the M6 when someone threw something off a bridge at him, it bounced on the road and skimmed his head
He had to have over a dozen stitches, he kept it together enough to see a police car behind him so he moved about in the lanes then pulled over, they stopped to tell him off then when they walked up to the car they saw the end result.
They were great, passed on the info, got Dad an ambulance and got a driver to deliver the car to us, when I saw the car I nearly puked, it looked like the aftermath of a shotgun to the head, so much blood
He was very, very lucky indeed, as was the car with no external damage at all and a deep valet restored the interior to better than new.
If that was not attempted murder then I don't know what is. They never found the culprit and I am still wary going past bridges with people on them,

About 20 years ago, some pikie kids (they were about 18 from memory) chucked a large propane cylinder off a railway bridge onto my Uncle's car (a Rover 825 Vitesse). It hit the top of the windscreen and front of the roof and caved it in to almost touching the dashboard and knocked him pretty much unconscious. Somehow he stopped the car.
Fortunately, there were witnesses and the police prosecuted them for attempted murder. Unfortunately, during the court case, he and my Aunt had to have round the clock Police surveillance as some of the accused's relatives started threatening them to make them withdraw their statements.
It was all really rather unsavoury but the little scrotes got their just deserts by spending a good couple of years at Her Majesty's pleasure, having been found guilty.

When I become prime minister , I'm going to make it illegal for anybody to stop and loiter on a overhead bridge. I saw a truck spotter yesterday on one one the bridges over the m6, sure he was only taking photos of wagons but it was enough for me to change lanes (in a wagon btw) for no good reason "just in case"

That's very sad. Not you changing lanes "for no good reason", but sad that this crazy s
t happens frequently enough that the thought even crosses your mind...
We were driving into Blackpool (I know, first mistake there) a few years ago in our recently purchased new Honda Jazz (I know, second mistake there)... Taking the kids to the themepark.
Anyway, on the long straight that runs into Blackpool, a half brick comes flying up over the road and hits the bonnet showering the windscreen with debris and putting a large dent in the front of the car. If we'd been travelling a little faster it would have probably gone through the windscreen with much more serious consequences.
Reported to police, obviously no chance of catching them (scrotes were down the embankment out of site), cost quite a lot to repair. Now avoid Blackpool.

Driving down the motorway a few years back some scrote threw a stone off a bridge as I passed under it - It was an old car I was driving that didn't have a laminated screen.
At 85mph I lost all vision as my screen fragmented into a million pieces. I had to do an Ace Ventura and stick my head out of the drivers window so I could see where I was going and get the car onto the hard shoulder. How I didn't end up crashing is beyond me.
Standing on your bonnet on the hard shoulder of a motorway kicking your windscreen through gets a few looks!
I didn't have breakdown so I had to complete a 70 mile motorway hack, in temperatures just off zero driving a car without a windscreen. Awesome!
Never did get all the glass out of the car!

i remember when we were at school ( i was 10ish) some local oiks had been hanging bricks from the motorway bridge on bits of string, they'd get it to be level with cars
thankfully i dont remember anyone being killed
is it me or is this sort of thing getting less common as kids these days seem to sit inside most of the time

This. Too much effort involved in lifting something heaver than a mobile phone. Plus they've got unlimited porn now to keep their hands occupied so I guess there's something positive to come from that...Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
