ok, so I'm looking at selling a car or two at the moment and I'm struggling to understand the marketplace somewhat.

Many of the buyers I've communicated with have been very sensitive to mileage vs price point, and it seems to me making decisions based solely on mileage numbers.

Here's how I see it - A car that's been untouched but has a low mileage could be in poorer shape compared to a car with another 20K on it but that's been upgraded and well maintained.

Essentially I'm saying I'm not sure there's many people that are buying on condition anymore.

90% of buyers place 99% of their buying decision on the mileage, and have no concept of how many miles a car can happily do with out major problems provided it's been well maintained.

Yes I agree with the OP. People filter cars for sale by price and mileage.......then other factors. Condition is only assessed by the few cars that are actually viewed.

Depends on the age, but if im buying fairly new 3-5 years old i want low mileage. This is just so when i come to sell it'll be easily shifted on. If im looking at older cars not worth too much, i dont care.

If it is a diesel I want it to ideally have done enough miles for the engine (and DPF)...

I am guessing cars aren't selling well at the moment so people want cheap and unused for their money...
