I wish to buy a new battery for a 2004 ST220 Mondeo.

Various variants exist with different CCA ranging from 500 to 640 A.

I have used Varta before but wanted to know if there are any particularly good batteries out there - worth spending extra for good quality.

Thank you.

I can only speak from my limited experience, but the Exide on my daily driver is still going stong after 14 years / 112k miles.
(Including starts from as low as -15c)

I've used Bosch S3 & S4 batteries on various cars/vans and never had any problems with them.

I buy my car batteries from the local breakers yard. Find one with a recent date stamp and your laughing - they only charge around £15.

If new, then agree on the above. Bosch, Varta and Exide have all been good ones on my previous cars, several have come with batteries that have been on the car for 10-15 years and still hold good charge etc.

I've just bought a Bosch battery for my v70 from carpartsforless, worked out less than £60 delivered using their discount code.

Check fleabay, Eurocarparts sold me my battery for £52 via fleabay (new battery, I picked it up from the ECP shop down the road), whereas they were asking £75 for the same battery on their website.

Thanks for the recommend. Just got a Bosch S4 for my S60 D5. Less than £90 delivered.

Better changing it now than on a cold winters morning hehe
