Alpina - What happened to prices?

Every so often I end up on the Alpina website. I'm sure that a year or so back a D3 was something like £30K (or low £30K's) as a start price - just found myself back on there and they're £46K.

Any idea why such a massive jump in price or am I imagining things?

The E90 D3 was always going to be a bit of a bargain (I know - I bought one!). Sytners stripped it bare to poverty spec (cloth seats, no sat nav etc) and ordered them in bulk. The new one is based on a six cylinder base car which is a lot more expensive. Compared to an M3 though, it's still a good buy and a better day to day car (search for the Autocar M3 v D3 video). Personally I'm awaiting delivery of an XD3 - not cheap but then compared to a Macan... hmmm
