On a similar vein, I have a gallon of "old" petrol drained from one of my bikes, there is no way it is going in anything automotive.
Local tip wants nothing to do with it, how the heck do I get rid of it?
(No bonfire/barbecue suggestions, I would end up like emmsman!)

Pour it down a drain.
DO NOT DO THIS. Apart from being utterly and quite rightly illegal, this is mind-bendingly stupid. If you pour it down a soakaway, you're poisoning the ground around you.
If you pour it down a drain, it'll do unpleasantness to the water treatment plant that eventually returns the water to your tap.
If you'd really rather live in a horrible poisoned wasteland rather than spend two minutes pouring it into an empty bottle and taking it to the tip...

Honestly, I'd either take it to the tip or more likely set fire to it when I have a bonfire. That might also be naughty. However I'm not a mechanic so would get away with it. Any sort of oil will give you a nice base to a bonfire to burn old crap in the garden. Can be a bit stinky though.
