Hi All,

I'm a UK automotive blogger and recently I've tried my hand at presenting to camera. I'm definitely no Chris Harris but hopefully with each video I make I should get better. Here is my second ever video review and it features the fairly bonkers Jaguar XKR-S. Hope you enjoy and feedback is more than welcome!

I enjoyed it, good vid and keep em coming.

My XFR with custom exhaust whilst not quite as bonkers certainly holds no boring middle ground. People either wave in anger at the sound or absolutely love it.

If only i could shoehorn my kids in the back of an XKR().

I thought that was really very good OP, much better than I expected it to be. You just need to find some private roads to enable you to open the cars up properly wink

It was surprisingly good. I did feel though that perhaps you're trying so hard to not come across as a nob/annoying that (at least for the first half or so) you actually seemed a tad emtionless and dull.

Having said that you're fairly watchable which isn't true for every youtube car man (schmee) it was quite cleanly shot and neatly edited and not too long. Not sure about the odd musical interlude and floating words middle bit, would rather just have had you speaking those bits about carbon etc.

On a related note I saw a white XK R-S the other day near Bristol and thought it looked fantastic. Just great road presence and the word "bruiser" really sums up the car for me.

I echo what Japveesix said.

The review reminded me a lot of a HonestJohn review. It was very nice but would like to see a little more passion, more enthusiasm.

Its a bonkers car like you said but your body language and expression never met it.

I would subscribe though smile

That was pretty good. You've got a subscriber.

LOOK AT ALL THOSE VENTS. wink

You seemed to be a bit more natural when you were doing the summing up bit at the end, what you felt about the car, seemed less scripted.

Thanks everyone! There's some great feedback there. Most of it I think I already knew about but it's good to have it confirmed.

My first review was simply me talking to camera and I edited in the best bits but the Jag review was scripted and I don't think that's the best way to go. A mixture of of the two would be better.

Just posted this about an hour ago... It's an Exige V6 Roadster review which was actually filmed last year but never shown due to a cock-up with the camera. Yesterday I decided to edit it all together anyway. You'll see what I mean but I don't think it matters too much:

Exige vid seems a bit more relaxed and natural but you probably do need to show your enjoyment a bit more in the future as it's pretty subtle at the moment! (subscribed anyway)

Have you got any more good footage of the MC Stradale from your best sounding cars clip? I still love that car.

I think as I relax with the camera I should become natural. I've noticed just in the last month how much easier it is to edit the footage of myself and that is a big thing for me. At first I hated hearing my own voice but I'm fairly used to it now.

As for the MC Stradale, I drove it at a press event at Millbrook and I did set-up my go-pro inside the car but the footage was fairly boring. The exhaust bit was a last minute thing and I just propped my phone up on the floor and did a little bit of anti-social revving! ;-)

Interesting video love the car too.

Loose the mid way graphics ....a few dodgy cuts whilst in the car.

But far better then I could do and thanks for sharing.

Writing as someone with 20 or more years in broadcasting, well done! You come across well and I think you should put a bit more personality in what you do.

PM me and we can have a chat about specifics if you like.

Elise video much more relaxed and the upbeat track better suited to a performance car review, I found the piano piece just a tad sombre in the Jag review also the delivery was flat.

Easy to criticize sat here in my study I know, but well done for having a go and keep it up the elise review was very watchable.

A comforting Radio 4 voice. Open demeanour.

Enjoyed it.

Like many others have said - inject a bit more (heartfelt) passion.

Keep the links coming.

PS

Nice car.

I liked it. Much better than I was expecting. Nice calm delivery without any amateur comedian, look at me I'm so cool theatrics. Excellent attention to detail. I'd take you over most of the usual suspects that appear on the telly and online.

Thank's everyone. I'm overwhelmed by the feedback and whilst I'm not at the level I'd like to be at least I feel like I'm moving in the right direction.

Davevx220 - I agree in hindsight the graphics didn't work as well as planned. Editing is very new to me but I'm having great fun learning.

wildcat45 - Thank you. PM coming shortly.

Sump - My first video was roughly planned but was basically just made up on-the-fly. The Jag video was scripted and I agree with you meant I lost that human element. At least this tells me I need to be more organic with my planning.

Wills2 - Duly noted. Music makes so much difference to pace and mood of the piece.

toxicnerve - Hoping as I do more it will become a more polished product. You're right I am not a pro and have had no formal training. This for me is more about the passion I have than trying to forge a new career. At the moment everything is paid for out of my own pocket so budgets are small and 90% of all the filming work I've done myself. I used to be a professional photographer so video is very alien to me but fun none-the-less.

55palfers - A radio 4 voice? Now my mother would be proud!!

swisstoni - There is always going to be certain amount of hyperbole in any review I make but the last thing I want viewers to think is that I am trying to imitate the TG lot. That's their thing and not mine. Hopefully I'll continue to stay the right side of that line.

Don't worry I didn't take it that way. The reason I took to a public forum full of petrolheads is that I wanted feedback from the kind of people who watch these videos. So far the feedback has been excellent.

Next challenge is to get more manufacturers on board. Need more stuff to review!
