Hi all
I just recently bought a Dax Cobra kit car.. from Dublin. It is on IRISH plates, but the V5 doc states the car was originally registered in UK (way back in the 70's), so we now need to revert back to UK plates. From speaking to the DVLA this is a relatively simple procedure. Form filling and box ticking…

My query is….

Should I notify the Ireland vehicle register of change of ownership… and I have the forms to complete… should I do this regardless of DVLA procedure?

I can't start the DVLA procedure until the car has a valid MOT.. and it needs a little bit of work done to pass.

Should I go ahead and inform Ireland that the previous owner no longer owns the car, and will they have an issue with the fact that ME.. the new owner.. is not a resident of Ireland????? Can I own an Irish plated car???? Or will they refer me straight to DVLA in UK?

Where to start and what to do first?????

That's the previous, Irish, owner's problem.

Just get the NOVA certificate ASAP, then - when it's MOT'd - V55/5 to get it on UK plates.

Thanks
I notified hmrc already and submitted details online
It stated no vat payable as we are re-importing a uk car
Do I need an actual certificate from them
Or is my online submission which I printed out ok
Also
Is it ok to drive on uk roads?
It's insured
It's tax exempt
Hmrc know about it's importation
Only things lacking at moment are uk plates and mot for the uk plated car

Thanks

Yes. DVLA will need it when you come to register.

It's on foreign plates. You're a UK resident. So... No. And that's before considering whether the "work needed" for the MOT renders it unroadworthy.

Nothing major, then... Only plates and an MOT.
