Hi guys, my GF is looking to sell her MINI. She wants something fun, sporty, and reasonably quick (but I suspect anything with a great big thumping six is a bit overkill). She has a budget of £5000. I have so far suggested an Audi TT mk1, BMW Z3, or even a Golf GTI. Any other suggestions?

Civic type R is a great shout, my GF loved my old one (but not the image) was lowered and semi-stripped for the track though.

Other than that how about a Cooper S, golf GTi or fiesta ST?

She was in a similar quandary recently though but upped (doubled) her budget for a scirocco 2.0TSi in that nice blue, she was going to get a EP3 before she saw that though

Does she need back seats? A big boot?

Back seats not an issue either way, nor a big boot. She has just said she wants something that when not "on it" she can settle down and it isn't too tiring, but when she wants to give it some stick it will respond and handle well.

I showed her the Seat (which would be ideal really) and she didn't like it...

Could you of suggested anything more manly? I'm dead serious.

What would help the PH masses help you, is pictures of the missus, you know, to make sure we get a good match and all.

If she liked her MINI, then a Cooper S might fit the bill?

Appreciate that she might fancy a change though.

I think the Audi TT Mk1 is really coming of age. Find an unmolested one and I don't even think you'll lose much money on it over the next couple of years.

The Z3 is becoming a better deal these days. Roof down fun, reasonable handling, great six cylinder engines. Not really a looker but feels reasonably special and exciting.

Keeping the Honda theme S2000. Quick look gives you a low mileage FSH s2k in your budget, great little sports car that can be enjoyed at 30mph in third but is also happy to be spanked all the way to the red line.

She does like her MINI, but it is extremely hard riding. Run flats and extremely hard suspension doesn't help... The thing is she finds it quite tiring to drive if she isn't absolutely going for it. She does like TTs but I am concerned that it will be more of the same. Anyone got one?

Depending on her age of course. So still in her 20's possible not but if in her 30's.

This - all the way to the bank, special car - not too common, easy to work on and honda reliable...
