Hi, I'm currently in a dilemma! yes it's a nice one to be in....but tough!

Can't decide to go for the Z4 or the Golf R! I like the Z4 for the idea of cruising around the coast and countryside with the roof down as we do a lot of trips away in the car, but then I like the R for the pure speed and sound of it!

Been looking at this for ages and just can't decide! If I go for the R I need to order now for March delivery, if I go Z4 I can order anytime up to January.

The difference in cost is around £23 per month taking into account PCP/insurance/servicing etc. Not bothered about selling on either, as they will both be on a PCP deal. Yes the R would be more practical, but most things get delivered these days anyway!!!

Thoughts???

  • Edit: The R was based on 5000 miles per year, changing the mileage up changed the price difference between the R-Z.

Personally, E90 M3 convertible. Few miles on it for the budget but best of both worlds?

Out of the two, Golf R.

Yeah should have said, it's the 20i M-Sport with comfort pack. Since the OP I've found out that the allowed mileage for the R was 5000 a year, bringing the allowed mileage inline with the Z4 brings the difference down to £23 per month more for the BMW.

Z4 is a more special place to be in but the 2.0 is a bit weak.

Golf R is a bit bland but has an amazing engine and is great for tuning.

Personally I'd have the R.

Just be careful about the Golf R actually turning up; I know that some people (see on the best lease deals thread) have actually had them delivered (there's a pic of one arriving on a transporter) but more seem to have had the car magically evaporate - and some of the OH and our closest friends had one ordered for September (about now actually) delivery from months and months ago - and that has fallen through and she is now carless.

The Z, imo. Much better looking and probably a lot more fun to drive (havent driven either of them but hey! this is the internet)

One of my neighbours has one and it always gets a glance when i'm leaving for work in the morning.

The Z4 will be the better more exciting drive, so personally I would pick it over the Golf.
