I have just bought a wireless charging cradle for my phone, but I am curious as to how the charging will compare to a wall socket. With GPS, bluetooth etc running the phone is draining down quickly.

With the wall charger 0.7A it still drops at a fair old rate, but plug it into the 2.0A wall charger and it still trickle charges, which is ideal.

So...for a 2010 BMW, what would be the rough output from the 12v cig lighter?

Cheers

Lighter sockets are usually 120 Watts, which if you divide by the voltage will give you a current of 10 amps.

Irrelevant in this case. What is the charger input 12v or 5v ? If 5v and you use a 5v drop down USB charger make sure its rated for 2+Amps. Typically marked as suitable for iPads.

The socket isn't the limit, it's the adapter you buy.
