Apologies for the poor-quality shot below (Streetview screen grab) but can someone tell me whether this one means that on a Sunday, I can park there free of charge for as long as I like?

and for this similarly-poor image, does this one mean

- on a Sunday, I can park there free of charge for as long as I like?

or

- on a Sunday, I can park there free of charge but only for 4 hours (or does the 4-hour restriction nay apply to charging times?)

Thanks.

Yes, free of charge on Sundays for both of those signs.

Yes on both counts, it's actually very easy to park in central London on Saturday afternoon/evening and all of Sunday!

You can also usually park on single yellows outside those hours, check the council's website for CPZ operating hours.

I live in London on a road with a similar system.

You can park outside of the times stated without paying and/or displaying a resident's permit - whichever is appropriate. Outside of the times stated you are free to park but remember that you can still be fined for other offences e.g. parking outside of marked bays, etc although the likelihood of a traffic warden actually visiting the area when there's "free parking" is slim. Also note that some streets/parking especially in Central London can be very confusing. For example, I regularly see part of the street being Pay and Display and other parts Loading Only with some Resident's Parking thrown in. If any of these people are in the wrong bit of the street during the hours of operation you can be fined.
