Insurer demanding log on details
Discussion
Out of curiosity has anyone else come across their insurer insisting on being given log on details to a comparison website when checking quotes for the purpose of price matching?
I had my insurance through Adrian Flux and when the renewal came in it was very high (I had an accident last december). I stuck my details into the meerkat comparison site, and it returned a few quotes that were considerably cheaper, including one less than half the price. I called up Flux and they couldn't match it, but I was told that my insurer offered price matching, and that if I sent through some screenshots, they'd take a look and try and meet the price. I did so (sending them the CtM summary pages), and then got an email asking for more detail, so I screenshotted every page and sent that over. In the follow up phone call I was informed that the only way that they would accept the quote as genuine was if I gave them my log on details to CtM and let them look for themselves.
I take my online security pretty seriously, and even though there's nothing to hide in there, I'm not going to hand out log in and password to anyone, no matter who. Given that they have all my details it wouldn't be an effort for them to put all the relevant information into the site themselves to see the quotes. Presumably, this is just an attempt to avoid insuring me, but I do wonder whether this is now commonplace.
I've insured with the best CtM insurer, and Flux and the insurer have lost my business for that policy. Given that I have a second car insured with them, I'll have to think quite seriously about that policy too come renewal time. Or perhaps I'm being unreasonable in my refusal to allow them to have access to my account?

Given the weekly problem threads about Adrian Flux cancelling policies and not paying out when they should, you should be considering the above as a good thing and take your business elsewhere. More to the point, if you've already had a quote for half what Flux are quoting why the hell are you even bothering with all this hassle? Is the £1 that Flux will beat it by (that's if you ever get that far) worth all the aggro? Adrian flux are the most piss poor excuse for a broker going. They may come up cheaper for some, but just wait until you have to claim, whether you're at fault or not, try to get them to even investigate is near impossible, they let it drag, and roll over. Without exception in my experience.
Consider this a warning, and a lucky escape. Would never insure with adrian flux again.

In fairness to them, I did claim against the policy with Flux last year, and I found it to be pretty much pain free aside from a value argument that ended my way. I have now insured with the alternative company, just was a little shocked by the flagrant disregard for online security.
See they haven't changed since I called them for a quote 3-4 years back...
Trying to insure an E36 M3 as a second car, 3k maximum a year, was ~27 no points, accidents etc 5 yrs no claims. Wanted around £4000!!!! That was more than the car then lol.
Terrible can't be arsed attitude from the girl on the phone..
I will never ever even call them again, I'd advise anyone else not to too!

Agree wouldn't provide my log in details. Re Adrian Flux generally however I find them pretty good.
Had a claim for a total write off about 4 years ago and paid out no issues. Only gripe is the taking the payment 3-4 days pre-renewal so you have to remember not to last minute shop around.
Way better than Direct Line (although my wife loves them) or Elephant in a claim. Elephant were shocking and I will never use the group again. Likewise I have had bad experience with A-Plan misadvising and miss selling so won't even take their calls at renewal. Guess everyone has a good and bad story about most businesses.

Flux is and always has been crap, as previously said its a mystery why they are preferred PH insurers.
Agreed. My mum cancelled a policy she had with them, expecting a refund for the several months she hadn't used, but instead they simply charged her a cancellation fee and refused to give her any refund whatsoever. Even my insurers (who don't have a great repuation) happily refunded me in the same situation.rigga said:

Payola. They're awful, I wouldn't touch them with a s
tty stick. Unless of course I was allowed to beat them to within an inch of their lives with it and put a few nails in there for good measure. They f
ked me around over NCB and car security certificates almost to the point where I was left uninsured. Never, ever again.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
