Trailer-mounted camera on M6 bridge?
Discussion
Hello - bit of a newbie here (though a Tyresmoke long-timer), after a bit of insight/advice.
I went under a bridge on the M6 this morning, a few junctions south of Kendal (sorry but didn't clock the site). I have come across camera vans in full colours on the first couple of bridges south of J36 before, but this was 10-20 miles further on and all I saw was a grey flatbed trailer parked over the carriageway, flat but with a grey box on it (looked like exactly GATSO size, to my fevered imagination) in the centre.
This sort of silhouette:

There was no pole, no vehicle attached, and nobody around it, and it was earlier than you'd normally see a manned site (6.45 am).
The trailer itself was flat, so it didn't look like one of these: http://www.driving-news.co.uk/driving-legislation/...
I did find this on Googling: http://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/gatso14.htm , but if it was one of these then it was laid flat in the stowed position.
So why am I asking/worried? Well firstly I might have let speed creep up accidentally
and secondly it just seemed odd that it was positioned directly over a carriageway, and near where the camera vans are usually positioned.
Is it a trailer-mounted speed cam of a type I hadn't seen before? Would it make sense for it to be active while unmanned (i.e. someone parks it, turns it on, and leaves it alone for later collection)? Or am I fretting for nothing?
The fact that I came across a proper camera van over the M40 later in the same trip, doesn't help my paranoia...
Thanks for any thoughts!
