Hi

I'm going to watch the American football this weekend in London, the package has us staying in the St Giles hotel WC1B 3GH, just off Oxford St.
They have no parking but an arangement with a car park for £25 a day. We'll be there from Saturday morning till Monday lunchtime. Is this the best option for parking? Any chance of street parking within walking distance?

Thanks

Shaoxter

Google street view is your friend smile

Go a bit further east towards Holborn and you can park in most bays and on single yellows from 13:30 Saturday to Monday morning. Outside those hours there's no chance of free parking so you'll have to find a car park or pay and display.

£25 a day for parking in London seems very reasonable.

Not that I'm aware of, and parking restrictions apply Mon~Sat, and in some places through Sunday too. £25/day seems a reasonable deal for central area.

Depending on arrival/departure timing, you'll also need to pay C-Charge if the garage is in the zone, which it is most likely to be..

Tottenham Court Road is the dividing between Westminster and Camden authorities, but both sides are in a CPZ with no single yellow line parking until after 6.30pm on Saturdays until 8.30am Monday morning.

The hotel location is in zone CA-C.

Immediately west of Marylebone station you'll be able to park free on single yellows and walk to Oxford Circus in about 20 minutes, apart from Monday from 08:30.

We've built a very expensive rail, tube, bus and taxi network so foreigners don't have to clog up our streets. wink

Cheers all, seems parking out of town and getting train in would be best. Will look into where is best for coming up from the westcountry.

Why not train it into Paddington or Marylebone?

This. Park for free around the Richmond/St. Margaret's area, then walk to the train station, train, then tube into central for the cost of a day travel card. Means you can get around once you're in central as well. Don't drive into central London, especially on a Friday.

£25 a day is good, do that. I pay £20 a day to park at my office, for the convenience it's worth it.

Driving is easy enough to. Forget the train, carrying bags and walking is no fun.....
