Am thinking for my son, when he starts using the car more I will have to insure him as the main driver (rather than named) and that will cost more than this does each month, ok its a stty Corsa but its got air con, some alloy wheels and its a brand new car for a jobless student, I had a 20 year old Capri at his age. Ok, it gets a telematics box but am looking for the catch, £99 for the insurance, will they batter it next year and we get stuck with a three grand bill for insurance ?

How old is he? Deals like that are usually only above a certain age.

That will be very very slow - the gf has a 1.4 Corsa D and even that is painfully slow

18, will be 19 in November.

That says its the 1.2 which shouldnt be too bad, its the 1.0 that is gutless, we have a C1 which is just about ok but the 1.0 Corsa has less power and is bigger so would avoid that but he doesnt need fast.

The car finance last 3 years, but the £99 is for one year, so they might try to stiff you for the later yeasr I guess. The bumf talks about the chance to get back up to £33 a quarter for careful driving - surely they don't mean the insurance is free if you drive like a vicar?

As an aside, the InsCo's webpage is plastered with images of the fancy iPhone app telling the teenager how good their driving is - great idea, as if they needed any encouragement to be staring at their iPhones instead of paying attention!

I had a 1.2 Corsa D.

For the most part it is painfully slow but depending on how you use the gearbox it's fairly easy to get motoring to a fair speed if needs be.

Fine for an 18/19 year old. Not quick enough so they'll die but enough to get to places wherever they'll go with their mates, etc.

Looks good in terms of payment per month (0% interest!) and one year's insurance, but it's still over £10k plus insurance costs (after the first year).
