Hi
I've got BBS 20" wheels on my Jaguar XKR 2000. They are 285 at the back and 255 at the front does anyone know if the wheels are the same size and its the tyres that are different or are the wheels themselves different. The reason I'm asking is I've had to swap the fronts to the back because of some rubbing. I'm not really sure what's going on. I had the wheels painted and when it came back I noticed a rubbing. Any advice or help would be welcome.
Thanks
Rik

Those are a multipiece wheel? Where they disassembled for painting?

No work done, rubbing on the back but only near side. Theres half inch gap on the drivers side but the passenger side wheel rubs on the seam inside the arch. This is new but I don't know if the wheels have always been the wrong way round. That's if this is the wrong way round and just put on this way after they were painted. Would spacers be a way round this issue. Would I cause myself any problems driving it with 285s on the front and 255s on the back? Ive only had this car 4 weeks..

yes they are different sizes
swapping front to rear is a bad idea.
the rears are to wide for the front they will fit but will
put undue strain on the steering

BBS think you will have 9J on the front and 10J rear like my Detroits
tires will or SHOULD be 255/35 front, 285/30 rear.

Thanks for your help. It looks like I'm going to have to get this sorted out by someone who knows more than me. That's not particularly difficult !!!
A trip to a tyre gaff in the morning me thinks.

Thanks Fattyfat. I think they were broken down for painting, could you put them back together the wrong way round. How would that work???

Possibly a mismatch of wheel centres onto the wrong wheel barrels. You'd really need to have a careful look at the part numbers on the back of the wheels and take a few measurements etc to be sure.

Assuming they're split rims, then the "wheel" is three parts. There's the centre, the outer rim, and the inner rim. The centres may be common front-to-rear, or may be different. The inner and outer rims for each end will be different.

Get the wrong bits together, and you're making wheels of different widths up. Two seconds with a tape measure ought to confirm what's going on.

I used to have an xkr 100! Brilliant car.

My money would be on a mix up with the rim widths when put back together....should be 9j front and 10j rear

It could be as simple as the person who put them back on didn't notice they were staggered. Easily rectified if so.

Maybe the rears had spacers?
