Hello all, i am hoping for a few questions to be answered smile

My wife just got home and said there was a hissing noise outside the flat, turns out it was her tyre!

The fronts both have about 3mm left (measured the other day) so its possible the best option is to replace them both anyway but, as i'm never one to throw money away...

The mini doesn't come with a spare, just a can of goo. Once this goo has been used can the puncture be repaired? (the hole is in a repairable place, i have checked)

With 3mm of tread left on the other front tyre, is it a bad idea just to replace the punctured front and leave the other until it needs doing?

I think this tyre has been repaired in the past, does that affect the ability for it to be repaired? Is it possible that the repair has failed?

Thanks all,

James

No brainer, with only 3mm left replace both fronts, not worth repairing really.

Winter's coming 8mm [or whatever] is better than 3.

you'll need to replace the can of goo, and pay for puncture repair. So you should save both those costs (20-30 quid?) and put it towards one new tyre. Say tyre is 80 quid, you've saved wasting 30 quid iyswim. Your total outlay is 80 quid whereas if you pay 30 now, in 3 or 4 months you'll need new tyre at 80 quid thus total cost would be 110. So I vote buy new tyre.

Buy two now. As above, false economy to repair with only 3mm left.

He'll still have to replace the can of 'goo' or next time he has a puncture he'll have nothing to put in the tyre............... No?

No, not if the tyre is replaced and goo not used. Mobile fitter maybe.

Mis-read OP thought he'd already used the 'goo'.
