So going back to my knowledge of highways code a solid white line on a road means not to overtake, is this correct?

If so what about a solid white line for the hard shoulder when it is used as a road lane usually seen in places of heavy traffic?

Solid white line means do not cross it when in force

Hard shoulder used as running lane = not in force

Bus lane outside stipulated bus only times = not in force

thanks

the thing about bus lane is another good example as we have that on a dual carriage way. so the white line is only in force when the bus lane times are running.

i guess when I was thinking of white lanes, the only ones I remember when learning was the ones say around a bend on a single carriage way as an example
